Just A Dash" Benateau 40 Multiple Deliveries January 2013 - April 2019

Just A Dash...

April 2019 Sydney to Pt Stephens and return.

NSW IRC championships again, this time with a great crew and JAD beautifully prepared suffered from virtually no wind on the first 2 days and variable shifting breeze on the third. Hours of motoring around waiting for the non existing breeze to arrive. Sadly our results reflected a regatta not to remember.

April 2016 Sydney Pt Stephens and return.

This time NSW IRC championships. Sadly arch rivals Wild Rose not racing after Skipper "Hicko" recently died. This time we had Shouten Passage to contend with and incredibly close racing  saw 2 second places  by  4 and 2 seconds on day one and a dead heat on the final day which saw us bridesmaids again this time by one point. Next time .........

July and August 2015 Southport to Airlie Beach and return to Sydney.

After a very good result in the Sydney to Southport race, Tim assisted me in the delivery up to Hamilton Island for race week. I had already planned a trip to Kenya so missed out on the racing but the team finished with a commendable 2nd to IRC national champion Wild Rose (Roger Hickman). On return from Africa with help from Martin and Rocky, we had a great run back to Sydney to arrive in 7 days with only a quick stop in Coffs for fuel.

April 2014...

The next regatta - IRC Nationals at Newcastle. 4 days of hard racing saw JAD with yet another 2nd. " Always the bridesmaid" - hopefully not forever. Racing finished on Easter Sunday and straight after the prize giving, with the great assistance of my long term friend Kitty we motored back to MHYC.

January 2014 Off to "Festival of Sails 2014" Geelong.

Phil asked me to deliver "JAD" both ways. Apart from 2 days in Eden waiting for a Southerly of up to 60kts to pass through, perfect weather and after 1500 miles JAD performed perfectly and was returned again in immaculate condition. Thanks to great crew both ways Michael, Trevor, Tamar, Mark and Lorenzo.

As a footnote, sadly my friend Trevor who filmed the following video died from injuries received in a surfing accident in April 2017. His joyous nature will never be forgotten.

January 2013  Coffs Regatta.

After being on the winning crew of Just a Dash for the Pittwater to Coffs race 2013, I was asked to deliver the yacht back to Sydney. We left after the prize giving at 1700 and arrived in Sydney at 2300 the following evening. The East Coast Current running almost due south at 3.6kts so with our delivery main and a #5 headsail we were making a very nice 11kts for a lot of the trip.

Thank you to Tom and Mark who crewed for me on this delivery.
