‘Andrew Fisher’ 65ft ex Customs vessel Townsville to Ballina July 2015

Andrew Fisher was a different vessel ti deliver as it was the first time skippering a twin diesel jet propelled craft. After a brief demonstration by the previous owner and being handed a 4 page document describing manoeuvring techniques, we soon kind of got the hang of it.

We got to Kepple Is and anchored to shelter from the weather but found the windlass tripped the circuit breaker on use. After lengthy conversations with the electrician and sending photos of the wiring, got the switches jury rigged to raise the anchor. There were several other problems which required jury rigging to solve (see pics) and we needed a filter change at Bundaberg as we succumbed to the diesel bug. I was very grateful that my long term sailing friend John accompanied me along with his extensive engineering skills which enabled us to successfully complete the voyage.
