'Summer Breeze' Seawind 1160 Lite Bundaberg to Coomera April 2024
April 2024 Bundaberg to Coomera...
Sam from Catamaran Company Coomera got the listing for Summer Breeze and contacted us to arrange its delivery from Bundaberg. Having sailed similar Seawinds previously, I was very happy to oblige and quickly arrange to find a weather window and get the job rolling. Of course that area of sailing is usually 'blessed' with winds from the south and the forecast was for southerlies of varying strengths from the time we started looking until who knows when! So more a case of waiting for the southerlies to moderate and hopefully maybe going a bit more east. Thankfully a little patience and we nailed it with wind and tide. We departed Bundaberg at 1800, got to the tope of inside Fraser at 0500 and motored down to Wide Bay for a perfect bar crossing at full tide at 1300. With an option of sheltering north of Double Island Point if necessary, fortunately the wind and swell had eased and we continued on and arrived at Coomera at 1800 so 48 hours exactly in total. We had a few stretches of easterlies at 15-18 knots and set the kite and without engine power was able to get 7-8 kts which was lovely down the smooth waters inside Stradbroke. Overall a great trip and again I thank Murray for his excellent seamanship and company. I also thank the previous owners John and Kathy for entrusting us with their boats final voyage under their ownership.
