Hobart to Sydney October 2022...

Don purchased this very fast Elan S4 and asked me to assist him and one of his crewmates Tom to sail her back to MHYC in Sydney. I had just finished the previous job so booked to get to Hobart a couple of days early and have some r and r. On arrival, I had a look at the boat and discovered that it was going to need a lot of time to convert it from a racer to a cruiser. So my next couple of days were spent changing sails, putting on fuel and water, bleeding the systems and generally making it comfortable for the imminent arrival of Don and Tom. I saw a great weather window starting the day Don arrived so left at first light the following day. Over to Dunally to 'cut the corner' and with beautiful conditions sailed outside Mariah Is and set a kite! The conditions continued and although the wind turned north, was not too bad and found motor sailing with a reefed main worked well. After 3 full days and nights and with the swells getting a little steep, decided to pull into Jervis Bay for the night to have a rest and also await smoother seas which were forecast for the following day. Refreshed, we headed off and another 24 hours saw us enter Sydney heads to complete a great voyage.
