Gold Coast to Darwin July 2026...

About two years now since we delivered a Riviera 51 for Oren from Sydney to his home in Perth and he calls me to say he has sold that boat, bought a 58 and now sold that and bought a sailing catamaran. Not just any sailing catamaran, a massive 52 footer flybridge version. Bigger than my two bedroom apartment! So the plan was for Oren to sail with Murray and myself to Darwin but maybe not quite that far and then rejoin the boat in Darwin with his friends Brendon and Renee to do some gentle cruising through the Kimberleys and get her down to Perth. Well along with a few teething problems, mission accomplished and Oren is now officially a sailor! Murray and I had a great timesaving the northern coast around and through the islands, refuelling at Horn Island and at Nhulunbuy (Gove) and squeezing Remain Calm through the Darwin loch with a good 1.5 metre spare! Had a loverly evening with Brendon and Renee and then flew straight home. Thanks go to Murray and Oren for their company and assistance.
