After competing for the second time at Hamilton Island Race Week, owner Alison felt it was time to spend some time cruising the south Pacific! Some of the “Hammo” crew got Planet to Noumea but for the next leg to Fiji, they were a bit short, soI got a last minute call and three days later I arrived in Noumea! We had a fantastic crossing with mostly 15kts from the south east giving us beautiful reaching conditions. The other really 0pleasant change was to be in t-shirts and shorts through the night watches! We were assisted on the passage by Ron (an old salt and friend of Alison) and Mark (Alison’s boyfriend) who had little sailing experience prior but was helming beautifully by the end of the trip.
