Katherine Mackenzie - 32ft timber sloop Sydney to Coffs Hbr Feb 2019

Feb 2019 Sydney to Coffs Harbour...

New owner Jackie unfortunately had to start a work contract so missed the sail up to Coffs but sent along her sailing partner Greg for the ride. We had a lovely time on this beautiful 50 year old girl and our 2 days waiting for better weather in Pt Stephens were very productive fixing numerous little things to make her even better. She is a very well balanced yacht and although not super fast, sails very smoothly and gently (I slept very easily!) Thank you Greg for your assistance and it was great to spend the time with you.

September 2020 Coffs to Yamba...

Again Captain Greg assisted in the delivery of Katherine, this time to Yamba in order to be lifted out and have the bottom done. We departed at 0500 in order to catch the 1730 high tide at Yamba but our plan started to go pear shaped when fuel problems started to cause blockages in the filters. Greg did a spectacular job clearing the lines but unfortunately with just 3nm to go, we couldn't get it to respond. Thank you to VMR Yamba for the tow for those last couple of miles.

February 2021 Yamba to Manly Brisbane...

Unfortunately Captain Greg had to pull out at the last minute due to a nasty virus (not Covid) so I called Phil the fireman and as luck would have it, he had the next 3 days off. So up to Yamba, bought a few supplies and Catherine started first kick and off we went to catch the noon high tide. Very light wind so mostly motored and hit by a rain squall off Ballina which was really quite refreshing as the temp was in the 30's. Lovely calm sea and full moon meant the night was just awesome and we both got a bit of sleep. Entered the seaway around 0730 and took until about 1300 to get to Manly an it was a scorcher. Not much protection on Catherine so both Phil and I got a little burnt but Catherine is settled into her new Home and hopefully for Jackie, her owner, she might get to spend some time on her finally.
