Jayhawk (J35) Sydney to Westernport Bay March 2013

Andy and I left Sydney beating into the end of a southerly to experience some beautiful weather on the NSW south coast and around “the corner”. However decided to be prudent and pull into Refuge Cove (east side of Wilsons Prom) for the night to avoid the expected huge westerly. Unfortunately the ground tackle wasn’t sufficient and after attempting to get a hold three times, at midnight realised our only alternative was to motor around the bay until dawn. Unfortunately, it is not a very big bay and it takes 6 minutes to do a circuit! Andy and I took shifts and toughed it out in the sheltered bay which experienced gusts of over 40kts! Another 24 hours and we were tied up in Westernport Bay. Thanks Andy for a massive effort.
