'Bunyip 1' Nordhaven 47 Darwin to Cairns April 2025

Darwin to Cairns April 2025...

Owner Pete retired builder and avid recreational fisherman has owned Bunyip for about 8 years during which time he has taken her to Indonesia, New Guinea and many Australian ports and fishing spots on the GB Reef. Time for a change of scenery and move to Cairns and probably Coomera (Boatworks) later in the year for a few upgrades. Not excited about 1300 miles against the trade winds and currents, Pete decided to forgo the delivery and engage us. It is a hard slog and realistically I think we did quite well to average 5.2kts over the entire voyage. The Nordhaven is not a fast vessel but handles messy sea conditions very well. So out of the loch in Darwin and on our way. Ten days later with only two short ( 2 hour) stops to do complete engine checks on a cool motor and we arrived in Yorkeys Knob. Only very minor maintenance issues were noted and this is a testament to the quality of the build and the way Pete looks after his 'pride and joy'. We look forward to his call in a few months when he is ready to go down to the Gold Coast.

As always Murray was a magnificent asset to the trip and I thank him for his unquestionable dedication to safe seamanship.
