'Bankura' 40ft steel ketch Brisbane to Sydney March 2026

There was a lot of communication back and forth prior to commencement of this delivery. Bankura was imported from USA on a float on float off ship. As such there was not exact time of arrival and on arrival of course customs and border force requirements. Unfortunately when Rivergate lifted her out, the surveyor discovered a section of the hull was corroded down to 1mm from the original 4mm subsequently that section had to be cut out replaced, faired and painted. Of course, internally, furniture had to be removed and duly replaced. All this took time patience and unfortunately for owners Jackie and Peter extra cash. Eventually the day came and new crewman Adam filled in for Murray who was off doing family duties. Now whilst all that delay was happening, a war in the Middle East started and obtaining fuel was uncertain. our half way point and my homie town Coffs Harbour were only  supplying their own fishing fleet. So the search was on for jerry's or drums. Bunnings and the other adventure stores had all sold out but Adam searched Marketplace who had multiple suppliers of different sized drums.  We picked up 3 x 60lt drums which was more than adequate. With very little wind, we only got all the sails up once for about a 6 hour window and one over 12 kts of wind we were able to utilise the Aquavane wind pilot.  Adam did incredible well and took to our crazy delivery methods admirably and I thank him for all his help and lok forward to having him onboard again. With little incidence and a lot of southerly current we made great time to Pittwater and managed to arrive in time to navigate up to  the beautiful D'Albora Akuna Bay Marina and met Jackie and Pete on person for the first time. They along with their 6 fur-kids will spend a lot of time on their beloved Bankura and We wish them well in their new home port.
