Cairns to Brisbane January 2023

James decided to sell up in Cairns and move to a cooler climate in Brisbane. Also close to his daughter enable him some very wise input into her thriving online business. The trip with Phil started and stopped quiet quickly due to an oil leak in one motor so after just a couple of hours, we returned under one motor and off to the mechanics for some new seals. Once fixed we set off again in February  and had a good couple of days before the weather started to turn and the sea became quite unpleasant. Having to slow to 7-8 kts to avoid falling off waves and without a working auto pilot, keeping the boat on course became quite a challenge and Phil was probably correct in suggesting we might well have travelled nearly twice the distance due to meandering! Not being conducive to cross Wide Bay Bar for the next 4 or 5 days, we elected to leave the boat at Tin Can Bay Marina and Jamie and I with boyfriend in law, returned a couple of weeks later to complete the final leg of this epic voyage. Once again thanks to Phil who did a great job even with fighting a bit of mal de mere.
